Cabilao Island

A day-trip legend: schooling hammerheads at dawn on the north face, pygmy seahorses tucked into the wall.

Cabilao is a longer boat ride than our Panglao-area sites, which is exactly why it stays special — it's a day-trip destination rather than a daily dive. The reward is the north face at first light, where schooling hammerheads have made this one of the best early-morning dives in Bohol.

Beyond the hammerheads, Cabilao's walls reward a slower, macro-focused look too: pygmy seahorses are a regular find for divers who know where to search. Cabilao also sits at the western edge of the Danajon double-barrier reef system.
